BEAUTY MUST-HAVES

BLACK, WHITE AND PUNCHES OF RED

Black, white and punches of red on Belle Meets World blog

Happy Sunday, dear readers!  I’m sporting a new haircut for summer, straight from Vidal Sassoon, one of my favorite salons for the perfect short bob – every time. To debut my classic cut to the world, I chose one the simplest color combinations to match it – black, white and punches of red to accent the look.

A short haircut is one of my favorite looks on a woman. Bobs get a bad rap – as do most short cuts – for being man-repellers. But I think that’s bogus! A woman with a short haircut screams confidence to me because she’s willing to look the men-only-like-long-hair rule in the eye and rock a true style. Sure, sometimes I look in the mirror and worry that I am not as feminine with the shorter locks as I usually like to be. To combat that, I always grab a killer lipstick and some major earrings. Try this trick if you’re a little unsure of your bob or your pixie.

As for the outfit, this hand-painted pencil skirt was one of my purchases from my trip to Mexico in February – I’ve been saving it for one of those days that I needed an extra boost of style and flair. My office is pretty empty on most weekdays, so sometimes I’ll push the boundaries on my clothes when I have after-work plans. For this one, it was a dinner date with my man after work for tacos and margaritas.

The scalloped sleeves of this black top mimicked the shapes on this skirt and also added width at my shoulders. A pattern on the bottom can make you look even wider when you’ve got hips like I do, so I wanted the broader shape up top to distract from and balance out that potential big-bottomed-ness.

I love to pair a punch of red with black and white and recommend you try it too next time you wear this most basic of color combos. Red shoes and red lipstick (or even a red belt or necklace)  always add some sass and personal style to the look!

And that’s all for today – just an easy, breezy outfit post for this Sunday evening. I’m choosing to keep it simple and cherish those last remaining moments of my weekend. I hope you will too!
