BEAUTY MUST-HAVES

BEST DRUGSTORE SKINCARE, HAIR CARE, and BODY CARE

Best Drugstore Skincare, Hair Care and Body Care

Hi gals! It’s time for another best drugstore product beauty post – this time for skincare, hair care and body care! Today I’m talking all about my favorite shampoos, conditioners, products and tools; my favorite moisturizers, toners and cleansers; and my favorite lotions, shave gels and body wash – all from affordable places and all great quality.

This will be a long post, but it’s a good one, so scroll on!

BEST DRUGSTORE SKINCARE:

Drugstore skincare is scary territory sometimes. You have to wonder how it could work if it doesn’t cost as much as all the fancy stuff. But cost doesn’t always make an item more effective. Sure, they say you get what you pay for but I’m a skeptic about most products until I try them, and not all fancy products I’ve tried have worked. When it comes to drugstore beauty items, though, there are a few things I’ve found that have become my staples. I ALWAYS re-up them without fail and certainly more often than the expensive items. SO…here we go!

Best Drugstore Skincare, Hair Care and Body Care

Best Micellar Waters: Simple Water Boost Micellar Water – I re-up this every time I run out and am thoroughly obsessed and will never stop using it until they stop making it. It cleans and refreshes your skin and feels amazing without any harsh cleansers. It sucks stuff out of your pores, and you will love it; Runner Up – Garnier Micellar Water.

Simple Skincare Regimen for Women

Best Cleansers: Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser – This is an all-around simple cleanser for sensitive skin that doesn’t strip moisture, and you can definitely buy the Target generic version if you’d like!; Runner Up – Cerave Renewing SA Cleanser. This one has Salycilic Acid in it, which is good for breakouts. If you’re acne prone, a lot of dermatologists will recommend these two brands.

Best Toners: Pixi Beauty Glow Tonic – My other drugstore obsession that I never stop talking about and have been using daily for 6 years. It is worth every penny. If you don’t buy this, it is your loss, plain and simple; Runner Up – Thayer’s Rose Petal Witch Hazel toner. I tried this out when Target was out of my Pixi Glow Tonic, and I really liked it as a back up. This would be PERFECT for the men in your life who use toner (they should totally use toner).

Simple Skincare Regimen for Women

Best Moisturizers: Cerave Daily Moisturizing Lotion – This one has hyaluronic acid, which is uber-hydrating; Runner Up – Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion. I like this one a little less because it’s just a little too slippery for me; Again, these are classics and work really well on sensitive skin. When I have periods of bad acne, I will switch over to this because it’s not too harsh or thick.

Best Face Oils and SerumsPixi Beauty Overnight Glow Serum and Pixi Beauty Jasmine Oil. To be honest, serum is a product that I’ll splurge on, so I don’t generally go for a drugstore product when it comes to serums. That said, Pixi Beauty products are truly top notch and I’ve been really happy with these. I received them as a gift from Pixi and liked them enough that I didn’t re-up my night serum and will stick with these instead until they run out.

Best Drugstore Skincare, Hair Care and Body Care - Pixi Serum and Oil

Best Eye CreamsRoc Multi Correxion 5-in-1 Eye Cream; No runner up. I haven’t ventured too far into the world of drugstore eye creams. I do like this one, but I’m not super-loyal to it – it’s just the only one I’ve tried! This is one of those products like serum where I recommend splurging. (My favorite non-drugstore option is Lavido’s Alert Eye Cream.

Best Face Wipes: Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes. Another staple I always re-up. These are for those nights when you just can’t bring yourself to do a full washing of the face. They are also perfect for the beach when you want to get the sand and sun off after some time in the ocean. They feel gentle on the skin unlike a lot of wipes; Runner Up – Neutrogena Make-up Remover Cleansing Towelettes. These are a little rough on the skin compared to the Simple wipes!

Best Makeup Removers: Neutrogena Oil-Free Makeup Remover; No runner up – I’ve been using this one for years and never felt the need to change brands.

Best Face Masks: YesTo Snap Masks in Grapefruit and Charcoal  and the Yes To Tomatoes Charcoal Mask Bar and Brush; Runner Up – Soap & Glory What a Peeling De-Clog Mask and Puffy Eye Attack Mask.

BEST DRUGSTORE HAIR CARE:

As with skin care, I’ve always been skeptical of drugstore hair products, but the truth is high-end hair care is so expensive, and I’m not convinced the results are better across the board. I can’t believe I’m saying this since I went to beauty school but, for me personally, it’s the tools and the way you use the tools that get you the results. That said, I’m not suggesting you use Pert Plus either (that will tear your hair up – don’t do it). There are a few drugstore products I love that I recommend here:

At Home Sleek Blow Out

Best Shampoos and Conditioners: Love Beauty and Planet Blooming Color Shampoo and Conditioner. These were sent to me to try and I am SO surprised at how much I like them. If you’re a natural beauty product lover, these are for you! They smell great, don’t strip your hair or leave it feeling heavy; Runner Up – OGX, all lines but especially the Nourishing Coconut Milk Shampoo and Conditioner. Evan loves these and I even wrote a post about how much I liked these in the past!

Best Styling Products: It’s a 10 Miracle Leave In Product – yes, it’s creepy because it’s called ‘product’ and not gel or spray or cream, but it works. For a smooth blowout, you can’t beat this!; Runner Up – It’s a 10 Miracle Leave In Product Lite. There’s a light version – perfect for winter when there isn’t as much humidity in the air.

BEST DRUGSTORE HAIR TOOLS:

Best Regular Hair Dryer and Best Volumizer and Styler – Regular: Revlon Laser Brilliance Infrared Heat Dryer – I found this cheap hair dryer and it does the trick if you’re also using additional styling tools like a wand or a flat iron. However, if you want the most perfect at-home blowout ever of all time, you would buy this Revlon One-Step Volumizing Styler. It’s the only tool you’ll ever need! In fact, my most popular blog post of all time is dedicated to it, and so is this YouTube video which already has 15K views!

Best Hair BrushWet Brush, travel size. I picked this little guy up on a whim after a girlfriend suggested it to me, and I love it. It’s perfect for your purse and most importantly, it is the ultimate detangler but doesn’t pull out your hair, wet or dry.

BEST DRUGSTORE BODY CARE:

I don’t spend a lot of money in this department. High-end body lotion is a lovely indulgence but it’s not necessary as far as I’m concerned, nor are other fancy body products. Drugstore all the way, baby!

Best Drugstore Skincare, Hair Care and Body Care

Best Lotions, Body Washes, Scrubs and Bath Bombs: Soap and Glory, hands down! I love everything this brand makes and don’t really go with anyone else. The Smoothie Star Breakfast Scrub, The Righteous Butter Body Lotion, Hand Food and Heel Genius are my absolute favorites. And if you’re a bath person, the Fizz-a-Ball Bath Bombs are amazing and sparkly! Body Wash Runner Up – Love Beauty & Planet Beautiful Moisture Body Wash makes a nice creamy body wash that I like if you want to go the natural product route!

Best Cuticle CreamsSoap & Glory Melty Talented. You can also use this on elbows, knees and split ends, and it smells good like all their other products!; Runner Up – Burts Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream. This one is good for natural product lovers and will last forever!

Best Drugstore Skincare, Hair Care and Body Care

Best Mainstream Deodorant and Best Natural Deodorant – Mainstream: Dove Advanced Care Shea Butter Anti-Perspirant; For natural product lovers, Schmidt’s Charcoal & Magnesium is seriously amazing. I am SHOCKED by how well this works!!! I’ve tried many natural deodorants but they never work. This one actually does and I am the sweatiest female known to earth. I can’t say I sweat less because no matter what I use I will sweat. But I don’t smell and I feel like it has the same level of anti-perspirant power that the Dove does.

Best Nailpolishes – Sally Hansen Miracle Gel or Complete Salon Manicure.I don’t love a lot of home manicure stuff because I have been getting my nails done at the nail salon for over a year now. BUT, if I’m going to do my own manicure or pedicure, these Sally Hansen options last longer than any other types I’ve tried. The key is to be good at your own nails – which I’m not!
