I am a strange paradox of a person in that I hate being told what to do, yet I love rules and parameters. When people tell me I can’t wear white after Labor Day, I immediately want to throw on every white item I own and run through the streets. At the same time, a white summer dress with white pumps and a white handbag during fall and winter simply doesn’t sit right with me. So, what’s our happy medium, ladies? Can we wear white after Labor Day? And if so, how do we do it with class and confidence? I say – YES! Wear white after Labor Day, but choose your white items wisely and pair them with the right cooler weather pieces.
White jeans are your best bet for wearing white in fall and winter. They’ve become a wardrobe staple for spring and summer, so it’s not going to throw anyone SO off if you keep on wearing them as the weather turns. To make them more seasonally appropriate, pair them with darker pieces like black booties and a black sweater or jacket. Even better – choose a dark top with white accents to show that you deliberately chose white! A touch of red lipstick makes black and white pop, too!
Confession – this is embarrassing to admit, but white jeans can really amplify my worst parts! When I wear white jeans I tend to choose tops or vests that are tunic length to cover the widest and meatiest part of my thighs. As you know, I preach that you should know your body and dress to flatter it, and light colors on the bottom pretty much go against this in every way possible. BUT, I simply love the way white jeans look, so I adapt the outfit to suit my body by covering up the parts I don’t like.
P.S. Did you see my recent style fail?! It was epic and a total mis-fire for my body. Check it out – it happens to all of us!
P.P.S. I hope you have a wonderful weekend, dear readers! I appreciate each and every one of you, and thank you so much for your support!
