BEAUTY MUST-HAVES

Pleats, Please, Plus a Trapeze – Part 1

Pleated trapeze dresses are among my favorite pieces of clothing. The shape is flowy and feminine, yet also forgiving on ones curves. Plus you can spin around and feel like you’re five when you wear one! I love them so much in fact that I have 3 of them, which I’ll highlight over the next few posts.

WHAT I WORE:

WHY I WORE IT:

I’ve received more compliments on this $20 dress than any other piece of clothing in my closet. I found it at a shop going out of business several years ago, and though the colors are summery, I’ve actually worn it in fall and winter with tights to brighten up those dark, cold days! It’s a great dress to wear to dinner in summer or to the theatre in the fall/winter.

  • Since the dress has such a lovely print and the pleats are really crisp, I love to keep all accessories minimal. I chose black sandals and a black clutch to quietly complement the black in the print and to contrast against the cream fabric.
  • I chose red lipstick to highlight the red in the print, and a very simple necklace with red accents to do the same.
  • I wear my hair like this when I want to have it down but create height, as well as to open up the neckline and show it off. This one has 2 pretty ties that hold the whole thing together!

HOW TO WEAR IT YOURSELF:

I’ll include this panel in my final Pleats, Please post. There will be 3, so stay tuned!
