BEAUTY MUST-HAVES

MOTHER’S DAY GIFT IDEAS

Can you believe it’s already May and that Mother’s Day is Sunday?! Me neither! Lucky for me, there are several moms in my life – my mom, my grandmother, my boyfriend’s mom, friends who have babies – so I needed to come up with a pretty diverse set of gifts to give across that group of women. And just in case you’re looking for a little inspiration, I thought I’d share these Mother’s Day gift ideas with you too. Let’s just hope my mom doesn’t read this before Sunday, and if she does – Happy Mother’s Day, and one of these gifts is on the way!

ATTEND A JEWELRY-MAKING CLASS AND GIVE HER THE FINISHED PRODUCT

I recently did this last Saturday, and it was SO much fun. We learned how to wrap wire in order to create chains of beads, and I came out of it with a set of tools to use and some really beautiful pieces to wear and to create. You best believe I put one of these in the mail for my mom! She’ll love knowing that I chose the beads, designed the necklace and then put in the handiwork to make it real!

If you’re in Chicago, I highly recommend Beadniks on Division for their workshops. They are just 2 hours long, taught by knowledgeable and friendly folks, and you always leave with a wearable piece – plus you get 20% off of the beads you purchase that day.

In other cities, I recommend looking into the class schedule at Joann Fabric, Michaels, or similar stores.

FUN GARDENING TOOLS PLUS A FLOWER & PLANT SHOPPING SPREE

My mom loves her plants, especially at springtime when everything’s in bloom. Sure I could send her a bouquet of flowers on Mother’s Day, but what about some great garden tools and a gift card to Home Depot or Lowe’s so she can head to their extensive flower departments and plant her own?! It’s a gift that keeps on giving as her flowers bloom throughout the year, and she’ll get to choose what she wants to see in her own garden.

MAGAZINE OR AUDIOBOOK SUBSCRIPTION

MORE Magazine and Real Simple are my two favorite Mom-appropriate magazines. Each of them has a little bit of everything to read about – people, style, home improvements, recipes, decor, time management, etc. Plus, both of them have awesome gift deals going on right now for Mother’s Day. Click through the photos below to get there!

Or, if your mom is a lady on-the-go and prefers listening to her reads in the car or on a walk, an audiobook subscription is a great Mother’s Day gift idea. I’ve tried Audible before and liked it a lot – plus, your mom will get a FREE audiobook when you buy her the subscription. Yes, please!

COOKBOOK AND A COOKING CLASS

$11.89

By Katie Workman

If your mom is a great cook looking for new recipes, or if she’s interested in honing her skills, why not give her a cook book and a cooking class? Most Whole Foods Markets have culinary departments, so you could start there if she’s in a bigger town/city.

If she lives in a smaller town, check out your local health food store to see if they offer anything or if they have partnerships with personal chefs who could come to your mom’s house for a private lesson!

MEMBERSHIP TO A GENEALOGY SITE

My parents have become very involved in our family’s genealogy as they’ve gotten older – it’s a real hobby and skill set to put together your family history! A membership to a site like ancestry.com would be such a thoughtful gift if your mom is also involved in this activity. They are offering 25% off on gift memberships for Mother’s Day, so it’s a great time to jump on this purchase! Click through the below photo to reach the page!

Happy Mother’s Day to all of the moms in your lives! I hope this list of gift ideas inspired your own – please feel free to share any other ideas you might have in the comments or send on to me at [email protected]!
