BEAUTY MUST-HAVES

BELLE MEETS WORLD + GAP FACTORY = A DENIM MIRACLE

Sure it’s 90 degrees outside and still officially summer, but I can’t stop daydreaming about fall colors and all the looks I want to try when the weather starts to turn. Among these is the boyfriend jean, a trend that had eluded me (and my hips) until working on this post, and here’s why – I kept trying to actually wear my boyfriend’s jeans. But bulky and loose does not a cute outfit make! Fortunately, I’ve experience a denim miracle thanks to GAP Factory and I need to tell you about it – ASAP.

So what was I doing wrong before? Taking the trend too literally! My boyfriend’s jeans are cut for men, with a bit too much boxy in the hips and not enough taper below the knee. For a woman with hips, this trend wasn’t doing me any favors (and my man was getting annoyed at finding his pants drawer empty). It finally dawned on me to try a woman-friendly (read: flattering) version.

Enter GAP Factory and the sexy boyfriend fit jean. The boyfriend effect is there in that they sit lower (but not too low) on the waist, have a straighter leg and aren’t uber-tight.

What’s better, though, is that they are still snug-ish in the right places; cinching in my thighs a bit while still looking relaxed. They also taper just enough at the ankle to avoid bulky cuffs. In other words, they look perfectly feminine, and I couldn’t be happier with this experiment!

Equally as important is the price tag – which is pretty splendid (on sale at $50.99!). I try not to spend a lot of money on something I’m unsure of, but at the same time, I don’t want to compromise on quality either. Going the GAP factory route gave me quality denim from a brand I have trusted for nearly 20 years. Here’s a link to the sexy boyfriend jean, and if you sign up for Gap Factory emails at www.gapfactory.com you can get 15% off of your purchase!

So how did I choose to debut my sexy boyfriend jeans, you ask?! By taking the feminine menswear theme and running with it, of course! And I accented it all with one of my favorite fall color combos – deep green and burgundy. I chose a white button down shirt and left the back untucked to keep the look casual and irreverent. Then I went out on a limb with a leather lady-bow-tie (handmade by yours truly!) and matching green platform heels to up the girly factor. The burgundy hat and burgundy lipstick complemented the green and completed the look. Think Belle meets Dick Tracy meets Chippendale meets Cater Waiter – in the best, most chic and cosmopolitan way possible.

As for the accessories, I kept the metals gold, and grabbed a couple bracelets with green and burgundy in them to tie it all together (cuff and beaded wrap bracelet handmade by yours truly, too!)

This is a sponsored post, and I’m proud to say it! I couldn’t be more thrilled to work with and promote one of my favorite go-to brands. Thank you to the GAP for the jeans and for the opportunity to write for you – I can’t stop wearing them and I can’t stop smiling at this major milestone!
