I’m an equal-opportunity beauty junkie. I’ll buy products from all over – be it Sephora or Target – and while I love the personalized department store experience the most, I prefer the price tag of the drugstore, hands down. I bet you do, too! This month I’ve found four products – one makeup, one skin, one hair and one body – under $30 each that I am loving. All were purchased from either CVS, Target or Walgreens. Read on to learn all about them!
MAKEUP: The first product, Maybelline’s Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser, is AMAZING. I whole-heartedly recommend this to everyone reading this post!! It is the BEST under-eye concealer that I have ever tried. I made my sister buy it immediately, too. How did I find out about it? Through my favorite Athens, GA blogger Jenny Sue Makeup. I follow her on Instagram and found her video about the concealer that made her look like she’d gotten 10 hours of sleep instead of the six she actually got – she’s an on-the-go mom of three! I was intrigued and RAN to the store to purchase it. It works – IT REALLY WORKS. The haloxyl ingredient in it makes some serious magic on your dark circles and also does some lifting and de-puffing. It has a soft cushion applicator that doesn’t drag on your skin. The photo above shows the concealer before I’ve blended it, but you can already see the coverage it is providing – WOW. I never thought I’d say this about a concealer, but I feel truly confident when I am wearing it. I am rather fair-skinned but I went for the Light 120, rather than the Fair 110 because I don’t like my under-eyes to be too bright. I think it looks silly.
SKIN: The next product I’m loving is the ROC Multi Correction 5 in 1 Eye Cream. I discovered it out of laziness when I recently ran out of my South Korean eye cream and didn’t feel like re-ordering online and waiting for it to arrive. The next time I was at CVS, I looked at all the brands and found this one. I’ve seen ROC for years and believe it to be legit – partially because of the price-point (it’s a little on the higher side for a drugstore), partially because of the packaging (looks very professional and high-end) and mostly because of how long I’ve seen it in the drugstore (for years). I gave it a try and am hooked because I feel a little tingling when I use it which makes me feel like it’s working. This plus the concealer are a real under-eye powerhouse.
HAIR: My hair tends to get dry on the ends in the summer time because I’m exposed to the sun more, because I color it, and because I heat style it at least 3 times per week. This John Freida Frizz Ease Nourishing Oil Elixir is a low-cost alternative to expensive hair oils. I like the touch and feel of it – not too greasy, not too thick. I use two pumps and massage it into my ends (the bottom inch of my hair), avoiding getting close to the roots. It adds a nice shine and gets soaked up by my dry cuticles pretty quickly. This is a great product to rub in before you jump in the pool or ocean to protect your lovely locks from getting to dried out from chlorine and salt water. Highly recommend!
BODY: I’ve been reading about Jergens Natural Glow Body Lotion for years but never tried it until now! I am quite pale and tend to avoid the sun as much as possible since I only burn and never get tan. This lotion gradually adds a light bronze to your skin as you use it over time, so it gives the illusion that I’m not a pale ghost in the dead of summer – without the sun exposure. Apparently they’ve improved the smell of it over the years – in fact, Evan keeps asking me what that lovely smell is after I use it! If you are going to use any sort of bronzing lotion, though, make sure you are exfoliating your skin regularly. You can do this by scrubbing with a loofah a couple times a week in the shower. Otherwise, the color can look darker and blotchy when it catches on your dry patches of skin – GROSS!
