Happy Hump Day everybody! How’s your week going so far? For me, pretty good. This is a week where I have a lot of plans with friends and the blogging community since moving here a year ago. Feels like things are really starting to finally fall into place for us from a social perspective here in Atlanta.
Which means I’ve gotta have my summer outfits at the ready!
Of course a sun dress is the easiest thing in the world to put on in warm weather, especially one in a classic summer print like palm leaves. But confession – while I love the way sun dresses look, I don’t love spaghetti straps all that much. It’s just so much skin and arm showing! Who’s with me?
This doesn’t stop me from buying sun dresses, it just changes the way I wear them! One way to cover up is to grab a crisp white button-up shirt – a year-round, must-have – and pair it with your cute little dress. Here are three ways I like to do it.
1. TIED AT THE WAIST
So cute and classic with a little sass. I leave the buttons unbuttoned so that you can see more of the dress, and I pop the color for fun.
2. UNTUCKED AND BELTED
I button one button and wear the belt over it to create a waist. This is the most conservative and all-ages way to pull off a sun dress. I love it!
3. AROUND THE SHOULDERS
The preppiest of the looks. You’ll still show some skin here, but the white button-up shirt will cover your back and part of the straps, so it’s more about the wearing the shirt as an accessory!
Not into white shirts? What about a beautiful scarf to wrap around your shoulders or to cover your hair on a long drive or a boat ride?
