The first time I saw this J.Crew print last summer, I was obsessed, but I didn’t want to spend the full price on it! Well, I’m here to tell you that good things come to those who wait. One year later, I found this dress at the J.Crew Outlet for $30 in the print I’d so coveted. Plus, I think it can transition to fall quite nicely!
WHAT I WORE:
- Green ‘Punk Floral‘ Print Dress: (J.Crew Outlet)
- Black Short-Sleeve Linen Blazer: (Elie Tahari, purchased at Filene’s Basement)
- Black Short-Sleeve Leather Jacket: (Generra Jeans, purchased at Crossroads Trading Co.)
- Black Wide Belt: (GAP)
- Black Pumps: (Guess)
- Black Strappy Sandals: (brand unknown, purchased at discount shoe store)
WHY I WORE IT:
Turns out J.Crew refers to this print as “Punk Floral,” so I had to pair it with black shoes and a black jacket for both day and night. These dark accents also made it feel more fall-appropriate.
- For daytime and heading to work, I chose simple black pumps and a black blazer to bring out the black bits in the flowers but also to add a professional vibe.
- Plus, the longer length of the blazer covered my hips in a dark color to add a slimming effect in the light of day – definitely necessary with a such bold print when you’re a gal with big hips!
- For after-work drinks, I stuck with the black shoe and jacket concept, but I livened it up a bit by choosing a short leather jacket and strappy black stilettos.
- The wide belt was optional, but I went with it because it made the dress shorter for nighttime, and also added to the punky vibe I was going for when heading to the bar with friends.
