I purchased my second pleated trapeze dress the minute I saw it because of the color combination that works for both summer and fall. I’ve been able to wear it through both seasons, especially for weddings!

WHAT I WORE:
- Pleated Color-Block Trapeze Dress: (BCBG Max Azria, purchased on Gilt)
- Silver Lace-Up Sandals: (Dolce Vita, purchased at a shoe warehouse sale)
- Deep Purple Fringed Clutch: (The Garbo by Jack Germain)
- Deep Purple Lip Gloss: (Pla Beauty Glam Lip Gloss in Brave)
WHY I WORE IT:
This look is actually a departure from how I normally piece things together. I usually try to match my shoes to at least one thing in my outfit – be it a belt, necklace, hair accessory or handbag. I do this to balance the whole look, and because I want my choices to make creative sense. For this look, though, the shoes stand alone and in direct contrast to any of the other colors in the outfit.
- I chose the silver shoes to wear with this dress in part because I didn’t have any others that I thought would work. Black would be too stark, and brown wasn’t dressy enough.
- A metallic option seemed like the right middle ground, especially for a wedding. At that time, I didn’t have gold sandals yet, so silver it was! But I also think the silver and deep purple played well against each other. In the future, I may lean to gold given the warmth of the colors in the dress.
- The deep purple fringe clutch and lip gloss were obvious choices since they matched the purples of the dress.
