Wearing white after Labor Day is definitely a rule made for breaking. Have I mentioned I don’t like being told what not to wear? Especially when you own leopard print, open-toed booties with gigantic bows on the back.
OOPS! Fluffy Bernie made it into the shot! At least he matches the color palette.
At work I changed to pumps, since I’m not sure my corporate colleagues would like the leopard.
WHAT I WORE:
- White and Black Striped Boat Neck Top: (H&M)
- White and Black Leopard Print Booties: (Kate Young for Target)
- Black Asymmetrical Woven Skirt: (Gracia, purchased on MyHabit)
- Thin Black Belt with Silver Buckle: (Muse)
WHY I WORE IT:
I do believe there is a difference between wearing white pants, a flowing white peasant top and white pumps after Labor Day v. wearing one killer piece that has a white base after Labor Day – two separate things. The former – I wouldn’t do. The latter – I would (clearly).
In terms of how I styled this outfit, it was a very straightforward set of decisions:
- I woke up and needed to wear these shoes because I’m in a bow-obsession phase.
- I like mixing patterns and stripes as long as they are in the same color palette, so my mind immediately went to the white and black striped top.
- The black asymmetrical skirt is a new item for my closet. I’ve been wearing the same black skirts over and over again, so I thought it was time for a new, feminine style that would take me from fall, right into winter – this one is lined but with a breathable weave. Oh, and it was only $44 (and still available in blue) on MyHabit!
- I kept the rest simple by wearing no jewelry and smooth hair so that all eyes were on the two coordinated pieces.
