BEAUTY MUST-HAVES

Silver + Purple – Episode 2 – Dressed Up

I have a tendency to re-discover an item or a pairing and then wear it to death, which is what I’ve been doing with this silver bomber, purple lipstick and purple clutch (see my previous post for Episode 1 of this Silver + Purple look!).

For a dressier version of this combo, I added a black tee, a silver and purple necklace, and a pleated, sparkly skirt. It was the perfect look for one of my evening blogger events (more on that later this week)!

I also went a little heavier on the makeup for this look. I stuck within the purple and silver theme by layering a black-sparkle (Lord & Berry via Birchbox) under a true-silver liner (Cynthia Rowley via Birchbox), and by dabbing my plum blush (La Femme Hollywood) in the crease of my eyes, as well as on my cheeks. I covered my lips in this pink balm (Jane Iredale Just Kissed Lip and Cheek Stain – also the best all-in-one item in my entire makeup kit!!!!) first so that the purple lipstick (Illamasqua, ESP) would glide on more easily and not be too saturated in color.

The finished makeup look – up close and personal – so that you can see the liner and the way the blush and lipstick tie together with it.

WHAT I WORE:

See my previous Silver + Purple post for all of the outfit details. Additions include:

  • Black flared brocade skirt: (Banana Republic
  • Black tank: (LOFT
  • Silver necklace: (my own – a beautiful piece I inherited from my aunt – made in Mexico!)

WHY I WORE IT:

The same rules apply from my previous Silver + Purple post, plus:

  • To make the look a little more polished, I went for a simple canvas of a black tank, black skirt and belt. That way if I took the jacket off, the ‘under-outfit’ would still stand on its own
  • I chose this black skirt over the many others in my closet because it has the shiny silver threads that sparkle in the light and pick up the silver of the jacket
  • The necklace also dressed it up a bit and highlighted this color combo front and center. (In the first and informal version of this outfit, I left out jewelry to keep it super casual).

And now, I promise, this is the last you’ll see of this combo for a while! I’m retiring it for at least a week – onto the next!
