BEAUTY MUST-HAVES

WHAT TO DO WITH ALL THE PEPLUM TOPS YOU BOUGHT

I bought FIVE peplum tops over the last couple seasons. How about you? I admit I was skeptical at first as a girl with hips, but they were on every rack. And now they’re over – another fickle trend to put or give away…OR NOT! I’ve got a solution for how to keep wearing these tops while hiding the out-of-style peplum part – just grab a pleated skirt, and let’s get started!

FIRST, PULL OUT YOUR PLEATED SKIRTS

We’ve all got at least one of them – a pleated flare or pencil skirt – and if you don’t, you should be able to find a very reasonably priced one at your local TJ Maxx or Marshalls since this is a very popular style.

THEN, TUCK THE PEPLUM UNDER THE SKIRT

I’ve discovered that the pleats will actually HIDE the peplum if you tuck it in – as long as the skirt sits high enough at the point wear the peplum seam begins. The minor bulk that pleats create cover the flare of the peplum top.

NOW, ADD A WIDE BELT

The wide belt helps to seal off the look in my opinion. It covers any places where the peplum seam could show over the waistband of the skirt, and it also disguises the fact that this top is anything other than a regular, beautiful blouse. No one needs to know it was a peplum top or that you’re wearing a long-gone trend!

ET VOILA! KEEP WEARING THESE TOPS!

Give it a try and let me know what you think! Sound off in the comments, shoot me a note or post on my FB page!
