Every once in a while, a gal must step out of her comfort zone and try new things. Last year, I tried a jumpsuit – fail. This year, it was a sassy, well-cut sweatsuit. And while deep-down, I secretly love this outfit (I really do!), I’m just not sure I’ll ever be comfortable wearing glorified pajamas in public – especially when they make me look like a reality star. I love trying new makeup trends each season, but I don’t love breaking the bank to do it. We’ll all be onto something else in a few months, so what’s the point of spending a lot? For these items, I’ll head straight to the drugstore or for the low-end lines at Sephora. The price is right! Two of my favorite looks I’m seeing a lot for summer are bright liners with matching lashes, and a bright pop-of-color lip – not necessarily worn at the same time, though! What I love about these two trends is that most skin tones can find a shade that works for them to pull this off, so they are universal yet unique looks! Read on for how I wear them and which brands I prefer.
It’s been over a month since I’ve posted on my blog, and I’m having stage fright coming back to it. This is partly because I don’t know what to write about; partly because it’s been one of the hardest professional months of my life and I simply didn’t make time for writing; partly because I spend way too much time writing each post, pouring my heart and soul into the best way to wear eyeliner; partly because I haven’t really achieved what others have who started out when I did – though I claimed I was doing it just for me, it’s been hard not to get caught up in the comparison game; and partly because I haven’t been practicing what I preach lately – not taking care of myself or putting my best foot forward. Ugh – the identity crisis continues!

A new virtual styling client of mine just approached me with a conundrum I’ve never dealt with – dressing for work when you are a tomboy. She’s recently started a new job in a new environment – corporate – where she has to button up her appearance a bit but doesn’t want to compromise on who she is and what she prefers to wear. “I’m just a tomboy, who wears mostly black, and still cuts all her t-shirts into tanks…Heels, skirts & dresses are all gonna be off the table for me,” she said in our first exchange. How was I going to help her when I’m the queen of dresses and heels?!?! I panicked but then I really stopped to listen to what she was saying.
