Everyone listen up! Have you tried the new Essie Gel Couture polish? It’s a game-changer in the world of at-home manicures. After weeks of listening to my sister telling me how great it was, I finally tried it and I’m a convert. I’ve been looking for a solution to getting gel manicures in the salon for two reasons – expense and time. I simply can’t afford to spend too much of either right now. This nail polish is the answer!
Confession – though I love all things beauty, I actually can’t stand getting manicures and pedicures. I’ve never liked it. I love the idea of getting pampered and taking good care of my hands and feet, but I don’t like sitting down while someone else does it for me. I don’t know why! I’d switched to gel manicures because it meant I had to go into the salon less but even so, I’d put off getting my gel removed and redone until it was way too grown out or until I’d peeled it off myself and my hands were wrecked. Oh, and I can’t tell you how many months it’s been since my last pedicure (gross. sorry.). NO MORE! This Essie Gel Couture is an awesome way to get a long-lasting manicure from the comfort of my own home. I cut out the driving to the salon and the bi-weekly expense.
Here are the things that make it really special: the brush has a shape that perfectly mimics your nail so the polish really does glide on easily and intuitively. You apply 2-3 coats, let it dry (which it does surprisingly quickly), and then apply the top coat. DONE. Just clean up around your nails with a little remover and you’re set for at least a week. I like to retouch the top coat towards the end of the first week to add a little shine back onto it. The only thing that’s a bit annoying is the cost – it’s 11.50 per bottle – but I found this intro set for 18.50 at CVS. You can also find Essie Gel Couture at Target, too. The colors pictured here are Sew Me (the orangey-pink on my nails) and Gala-vanting (the dark red). These are kind of the only two colors a gal needs!
Don’t get me wrong, I’ll still visit the nail salon when I need my mani/pedi to look really perfect, but for the day-to-day need to look somewhat civilized, this Essie gel couture polish will do kiddo. Don’t forget to condition your cuticles, file the nail edges, and trim the hang-nails to make your at-home paint job look like an in-salon manicure. Then you’re golden! Thanks to my all-knowing sister for the recommendation. How come big sister always knows about the cool shit before lil sis does?!
