One of the most important things to me style-wise as the seasons change each year is having my spring wardrobe essentials purchased and planned. The weather can change to warm quickly here in the south, so I like to be ready. Who am I kidding? I also like to shop so any excuse will do. The good news is that most things you buy for spring, will last you through summer and into early fall here. If you drop a little cash up front on the right must-haves, you can look great for a good five months! That’s pretty economical if I do say so myself.
This spring for me is all about florals and pastels, so what better place to shoot this look than among the freshly bloomed spring flowers here in Atlanta! Flash to that part in Devil Wears Prada when Miranda Priestly says ‘florals? for spring? groundbreaking.’ Anyhoo….this weekend I got in some quality time with my sister at the Atlanta Botanical Garden. All the tulips and orchids were in bloom, the weather was gorgeous, and the entire city must’ve been there. I had to dodge in and out of the crowds to shoot these pics – which I’ve gotten pretty good at. A blogger’s gotta be nimble.
My 5 spring must-haves are pretty simple, and quite easy to find at a low price point. They are:
- Simple floral cotton dress
- White denim jacket
- Pointy-toed flats with pretty details
- Patterned carry-everything tote – add tassels and pom poms to match your dress!
- Pastel sunglasses and accessories
And that’s it! There’s just something about a dress that makes me feel pulled together, feminine and comfortable. This one is actually on sale for $15 and comes in a few other patterns! Each of these pieces was provided to me in partnership with Old Navy, and I’ve really revived my love for the brand as we’ve been working together. I had no idea they made so many on-trend shoe options, like these laser-cut flats (also like this sandal version, or these suede booties I wore last week!). They’ve started adding memory foam to the bottom of most of their shoes, so they are quite comfortable. I also didn’t know they had great sunglasses (these come in 3 colors) and jewelry, did you? I’ve seen so many pieces like these light pink drop earrings, the pink sunnies and the delicate little bracelet for a lot more at other stores. Jewelry is something I don’t love to spend a lot of money on because I’m so fickle with wearing it, so I’m glad to have found this wallet-friendly option.
The two most important pieces of the whole look in my opinion are the white denim jacket and the straw tote. They are both so extremely versatile, I can’t stop wearing them. A white denim jacket is such a crisp cover-up for when the weather isn’t quite warm enough. You can pop the color to punk it up or drape it over your shoulders for a more preppy vibe. This is hands-down my favorite wardrobe addition this year. And the tote is truly perfect because a lot of my clothes have blue in them. It’s so easy to mix and match patterns with this bag. And it came with this fun little tassel that matches the flowers in my dress but can be removed when I’m wearing other colors. I love this laser cut version too.
HAPPY MONDAY! HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEK!
