Happy Thursday from Charleston! We are visiting town this week and enjoying some pretty amazing weather – as in no humidity so my hair is staying a normal size. I love shooting here because the scenery is so charming with so many cute alleyways and winding streets. It’s the perfect place to test out all of my new spring and summer looks! I’m crushing pretty hard on gingham right now, so prepare to see it in a lot of upcoming posts. Let’s start with this sweet pink gingham skirt!
Want to hear something funny about gingham? Men don’t seem to like it on women – I’ve heard this from a few different guys, actually, including my own guy. They think it looks like a picnic table cloth or too country as if you’re about to go milk a cow. But I love it – and besides, don’t we fashionistas dress for each other anyway?? BRING ON THE GINGHAM. In fact, I bought a top in this same fuchsia gingham (both from Zara), and some navy cropped gingham pants in it too (from the Victoria Beckham collection I posted about yesterday)!
Other blogger faves to stock up on for the warmer weather?
Fabulous handbags in bamboo and straw.
I am in love with the Cult Gaia ark bag, and if you’re a big blog reader you’ve probably seen a lot of us carrying it! It’s very well-designed and held together by clear fishing line and perfectly fitted wooden bits that stay in place. I chose this simple dark stain, and it’s under $130!!
Big bright earrings with fringe and tassels.
I’ve jumped on the Bauble Bar bandwagon, and I couldn’t be happier with their choices. They add such a nice pop of color next to your face, which is really great when you wear mostly neutrals on top like I tend to.
Neutral espadrille wedges.
These by Marc Fisher are going to be on my feet for the next 5 months. They go with everything, make me taller and are quite comfortable. Plus I’m insecure about my feet (who the heck knows why of all the things, it would be my feet), so I like that these cover them while still being in the sandal category.
And my personal seasonal must-have-no-matter-what is a number of crisp white cotton tee-shirts with interesting details and cuts. Wearing white in summer makes me feel light and bright but I sweat a lot in weird fabrics, so I choose cotton. This little crop top with poofed sleeves is a fresh take on a simple classic and it really makes the gingham skirt pop – it’s Zara, of course!
HAPPY THURSDAY!!
P.s. Look at this pristine vintage Ford! We stumbled upon it while shooting – how amazing is it?!
