BEAUTY MUST-HAVES

SUMMER CLASSICS: NEUTRALS

Summer wardrobe essentials

Want to know what the perfect outfit is for dinner with girlfriends outside on a warm night? Look no further than these summer classics I’ve got going on for you today. Everything here is the foundation of your whole closet for the next few months. Pretty much any outfit can be built off this look. Here’s what you’ll need…

Summer wardrobe essentials

Nude Patent Pumps: This is the shoe!!! The shoe that makes your wardrobe go round! Work, play, you name it, you can wear it there. I like the patent because it adds a little extra girliness. Run to DSW (that’s where I got these. Mine are BCBG – similar option here) or Nordstrom Rack and buy a pair on sale – they are on every shelf in every store.

White Jeans: Quite possibly the most pivotal piece of your summer wardrobe. You must have a pair. No matter what. I bought these from J.Crew and like that they have a little stretch. Now that I’ve dropped a couple pounds, I may go for a new style in a size down.

White Tee: Cannot. live. without. A white v-neck is the easiest thing to throw on during the weekend with jeans or a mini skirt, under a blazer or on its own. I like this version from Banana Republic, but you can also just grab a pack of Hanes at Target!

Nude Blazer: I never know what to put over a top in summer, but a nude blazer is perfect. It will also go over sheath dresses at work and could be worn over a tight date-night dress too. You can easily match it to your nude pumps to look extra-coordinated. This angled option by Tobi is a unique variation on a classic cut. I love it!

Tan Belt: A thin neutral belt can really pull a look together and take it from slightly sloppy to super-polished. I buy them in a size up so that I can sling it around my waist with jeans or wrap and tuck at the waist over a flowy dress. This Old Navy option is on repeat in my closet these days!

Clutch: So this ‘vintage’ Gucci clutch is one of my favorite pieces. I think it’s from the 80s. I was born in the 80s. Does that mean I’m vintage too??? I’m hunting for a green and red Gucci strap to sling on it for a modern look. Here’s a link to the non-vintage version.

Long Necklace and Hoop Earrings: I’m all about statement earrings – the bigger and bolder, the better. But sometimes you just gotta keep it nice and simple. A long necklace with a neutral stone and some bedazzled hoops are a great compromise and will go with EVERYTHING this summer!
