I often look to other blogs for inspiration, especially when I’m low on money and seeking fresh ways to wear the clothes I already have.
This outfit centers around a piece you’ve seen once before in a past post – the sleeveless trench. But this time around, I dressed it up a little and made it fall-and-winter friendly.
The inspiration came from one of my favorite blogs, With Love from Kat. I love her site because she has wonderful clothing and awesome style (and is extraordinarily beautiful!). Plus, she does not sell an unattainable or intimidating lifestyle – the outfits she wears are looks I can try on myself and put my own spin on them – like this one!
This dress is my own little surprise, sexy twist. What’s awesome about it is that it’s full-coverage in front (and warm for winter) but has a little character in the back with the lace-up detail. It’s a great way to show a little skin, even when it’s cold outside.

WHY I WORE IT:
- I didn’t have any leopard print shoes that would match the rest of the look like Kat’s, so I grabbed these black booties to create my signature ‘bookends’ with the hat.
- The wide black belt matched the booties but it also created a narrowing effect at the waist of the trench coat which can look a little bulky when closed and buttoned.
- When the coat was unbuttoned or taken completely off, I could easily put it around my waist over the dress, allowing the outfit under the trench to stand on its own without the coat.
- The olive green sunglasses matched the olive green trench, which added a little extra polish to the look while the sun was still out.
