BEAUTY MUST-HAVES

BROOKLYN BRUNCH DATE AT BUTTER & SCOTCH

This weekend I was in New York and had brunch at Brooklyn’s latest hot spot, Butter and Scotch – it’s a bar and bakery with a sweet little menu with biscuits, cocktails and desserts. In fact, they’ve just been named ‘Best Birthday Cake in NYC’, and now I know why. It was truly the best cake I’ve ever had with the perfect icing to cake ratio (the most important ratio there is).

LAST MINUTE MOTHER’S DAY GIFT IDEAS

For those of you last-minute shoppers for Mom (myself included – epic daughter fail this year!), here are some of my Mother’s Day gift ideas!

WEEK IN REVIEW – HAIL, HAIL ROCK N’ ROLL

HAPPY FRIDAY! I’ve been excited to write this post all week because it’s been a really fun couple of them. Crazy, but fun and full of A LOT of rock! For those of you who are new to my blog, did you know my beloved is in a rock band? That’s how we met actually (I know, groupie). Every year or so Jump Little Children gets back together for a few shows, and this year also played at the south’s newest music festival, High Water Festival in Charleston – hosted by Shovels & Rope. We had a blast!

WEEK IN REVIEW – NEW YORK CITY

Happy Friday, friends! What a week – I got stuck on an extended business trip in NY because of all the crazy storms in Georgia. In fact I’m still here while I write this – two days after I was supposed to be back! I worked a ton, shopped a ton, and missed home in Georgia a ton. Never thought I’d say that!!  In today’s post I’m taking a break from the fancy-cam to show you some real life iPhone action from this week’s adventure!

SPRING CLEANING + GOAL SETTING

It’s the last day of March, y’all! I can’t believe we’re this far into 2017. And since I’m onto another month, that means I’m onto a new set of goals in April. I have a lot of things in mind that I’d like to focus on, but I think I’ve narrowed it down to a few realistic habits to form.

CHANGING MY BODY

Last week I posted about changing my life. This week I’m going to post about changing my body. Not because I’m in any way interested in becoming a fitness blogger – that’s not my intention. I have zero leg to stand on in terms of expertise in that department. But I’m writing about it because I’m really interested in this idea of change and how one does it and how it sticks or doesn’t. It’s a slow and steady race that I’ve had to break down one piece at a time. Normally I’d throw myself in head first and overdo the exercise all at once and then blow it off a couple weeks later. This time I started slow – just striving to be active at all a few days per week. Then I tested out a gym and some classes the following month. Then I started to see and feel some changes so I’ve kept up the work and have really found my groove.
