BEAUTY MUST-HAVES

MOVING ‘BACK HOME’

I’m trying something new on Belle Meets World. I’m going to write more often on a broader set of topics. Some of these posts will likely be shorter and take less time for me to write – which is a good thing since I pour a little too much into every post and therefore don’t get to write as often as I’d like. The idea is to exercise my writing muscle and most importantly, to learn more about what my readers want to read about. I just don’t feel like I’m hitting the mark with a broader audience. That said, I truly appreciate each and every one of my current readers and if all else fails, you’ll get to know even more about me than before. Some of this will be surface-level fun stuff, and some will be deeper personal stuff. I’ll start with a topic that’s been top of mind since arriving in Atlanta – how it feels to move ‘back home.’

RENT THE RUNWAY UNLIMITED SUBSCRIPTION IS CHANGING THE WAY I …

I recently indulged in a monthly Rent the Runway Unlimited subscription, and it has really changed my relationship with my wardrobe. It is a fantastic solution for women who do not like shopping in public, who want to wear designer clothes without spending the money, who love variety but don’t want to grow the size of their closet, and who have a monthly clothing budget of $150. Read on for all the details – and for $30 off your first purchase from RTR!

HIP-FLATTERING STYLE ON SUPER-SALE

As a woman with wide hips and muscular legs, I’ve spent countless years studying and trying different ways to either hide or flatter these parts of my body that sometimes I hate and sometimes I embrace. (I’m a woman. I waffle about my body. We all do.) So when I find an outfit that flatters these parts, I wear the hell out of it. And I want to tell the rest of the big-hipped, female world about it – because in this case it cost me under $60!!! This post is about two things – flattering hips and shopping super-sales. Also – there are cute pics of my dog ahead, too.

FASHION FOR A CAUSE – SHOPPING IN ATHENS, GA

I recently visited my hometown of Athens, GA to see my family for Father’s Day and had such a great time with my parents. Naturally I had to take a little shopping break while I was there, and guess what I found? This adorable cotton dress that is perfect for a summer date night. And the best part of all is that it comes from a store that donates a portion of your purchase to local charities. It’s fashion for a cause and I couldn’t be happier to wear it. Read on to learn more about the best time I had shopping in Athens, GA!

BELLE’S SUMMER WARDROBE ESSENTIALS – FEATURING BUCKETFEET

While some may think fashion is superficial, I am of the mind that personal style is an art form. The way one puts her clothing together is a true expression of herself and what’s going on inside. If I’m honest with you, I’d admit that I dress for attention because I want the world to wonder what’s happening behind these crooked eyes and goofy smile. It’s important for me that I am seen as different, brave and playful – and I use my clothes to convey this every single day. Others may not see the same value in that form of expression – which is fine too – as long as we respect each other as the artists we each are in our own ways.

Pretty in Pink – Part 1: Corporate

I’ve never worn a full-on pink dress, but when I found this on the sale rack for $14 at Banana Republic, I had to take a fashion risk and give it a try.
