I don’t know about you, but I am definitely NOT one of those wear it once kind of gals. I only buy pieces that I either love so much I can’t wait to wear them again or that are so versatile I can’t stop wearing them because they go with everything. This gingham ruffle top is one of those uber-versatile-can’t-stop-wearing ones. It looks so killer with denim that I’ve found at least two ways to wear it and want to show you how you can take a favorite top and do it, too!
This weekend I was in New York and had brunch at Brooklyn’s latest hot spot, Butter and Scotch – it’s a bar and bakery with a sweet little menu with biscuits, cocktails and desserts. In fact, they’ve just been named ‘Best Birthday Cake in NYC’, and now I know why. It was truly the best cake I’ve ever had with the perfect icing to cake ratio (the most important ratio there is).
Happy Monday! Hope you had a great weekend – I spent mine researching and playing with new beauty products, per usual. My fave thing is definitely a sweet little pink lip for spring and summer. One shade deeper and you get mauve, one shade lighter and you get nude – so I’m loving the whole spectrum! What I love about all the options is that they are just soft enough to be neutrals and go with everything but give you a nice little touch of color for the warmer months.
While some may think fashion is superficial, I am of the mind that personal style is an art form. The way one puts her clothing together is a true expression of herself and what’s going on inside. If I’m honest with you, I’d admit that I dress for attention because I want the world to wonder what’s happening behind these crooked eyes and goofy smile. It’s important for me that I am seen as different, brave and playful – and I use my clothes to convey this every single day. Others may not see the same value in that form of expression – which is fine too – as long as we respect each other as the artists we each are in our own ways.
I’ve never worn a full-on pink dress, but when I found this on the sale rack for $14 at Banana Republic, I had to take a fashion risk and give it a try.
