THE TOMBOY’S GUIDE TO DRESSING FOR WORK

A new virtual styling client of mine just approached me with a conundrum I’ve never dealt with – dressing for work when you are a tomboy. She’s recently started a new job in a new environment – corporate –  where she has to button up her appearance a bit but doesn’t want to compromise on who she is and what she prefers to wear. “I’m just a tomboy, who wears mostly black, and still cuts all her t-shirts into tanks…Heels, skirts & dresses are all gonna be off the table for me,” she said in our first exchange. How was I going to help her when I’m the queen of dresses and heels?!?! I panicked but then I really stopped to listen to what she was saying.

STAGE FRIGHT + SIMPLE SUMMER STYLE

It’s been over a month since I’ve posted on my blog, and I’m having stage fright coming back to it. This is partly because I don’t know what to write about; partly because it’s been one of the hardest professional months of my life and I simply didn’t make time for writing; partly because I spend way too much time writing each post, pouring my heart and soul into the best way to wear eyeliner; partly because I haven’t really achieved what others have who started out when I did – though I claimed I was doing it just for me, it’s been hard not to get caught up in the comparison game; and partly because I haven’t been practicing what I preach lately – not taking care of myself or putting my best foot forward. Ugh – the identity crisis continues!

CONCEALER SECRETS

As someone who has struggled with acne for nearly 20 years, I’m no stranger to aggressively concealing my flaws on a daily basis. Concealer can be my absolute best friend most days, but if not done right, it can also be my own worst enemy. I’ve made plenty of mistakes throughout the years as I learned how to master this ever-challenging cosmetic item, and I’ve seen other women make them too. So today, I’m sharing a few of my concealer secrets in case they might help you!

STOWAWAY COSMETICS: RIGHT-SIZED MAKEUP FOR WOMEN ON THE GO

Given our current life is nomadic, I was looking for makeup that travels well from a size perspective and applies well from a coverage perspective. I found it with Stowaway Cosmetics. This is not a sponsored post. I bought these items myself out of curiosity and necessity, and I am so happy I spent $75 on these 7 pieces. They all fit in a small makeup bag, are versatile and highly pigmented, and I’m thrilled to know I’ll use up every bit of this right-sized makeup. For all you women on the go, listen up!

Her badass kitchenware blew us away, and we *might’ve* bought most of it within minutes of seeing it….

HOW TO CHOOSE AN ENGAGEMENT RING TOGETHER

I recently experienced the joy of getting engaged.  It’s a moment you can’t help but dream about your entire life and when it actually happened, it was surreal and wonderful and exciting and right – all of those things I’d hoped for. And guess what?! I knew it was coming because we decided to choose an engagement ring together. Trust me – that made it no less special.
