BEAUTY MUST-HAVES

OFF-THE-SHOULDER TOP FOR FALL

Let’s face it, the Off-The-Shoulder trend is here to stay – at least for another season. I’ll admit I was pretty skeptical of it at first and didn’t buy any ‘OTS’ tops. But once it became mainstream and I was forced to look at every woman’s shoulders from here to kingdom come on a daily basis, it creeped into my subconscious aesthetic. And suddenly I had to have one. Then another. And another. And now, I love the look and don’t want it to stop!

REBRANDING MY BLOG PART 1 – LOGO, GRAPHICS, AND WEBSITE

I couldn’t be more excited to re-launch my Belle Meets World brand today. It’s a huge step for me in taking my blog, my social media platforms, my content, and my entire business to the next level. This week I will walk you all through the entire process of rebranding my blog, in three parts. The first – today – will focus on the new elements you’ll find right here on the blog itself. The second will focus on my social media accounts and the relevant templates needed to keep consistent branding across all of those platforms. And the third will focus on my blogging icons who I look up to and whose blogs inspired some of the changes.  Read on to get real nerdy about rebranding.

DATE NIGHT STYLE: LITTLE BLACK DRESS

When it came time to choose the dress I’d wear out for my birthday this year, I had a vision of a sexy LBD (Little Black Dress) that would perfectly suit my 34 years in age – meaning a dress that would flatter my curves, provide appropriate coverage, AND show a little skin all at the same time. That’s a tall order, I know. BUT given how many LBDs there are out there in this world, I knew I could find what I was looking for as long as I had the right criteria in mind.

CREATIVE STYLE: MIXING AND MATCHING

My style is not for everyone – I tend to push the limits a bit beyond what most people are comfortable with – but I do like to provide some advice to those of you who want to take some risks in your own way. One of my favorite fashion risks to take is to mix and match patterns. It’s a fun way to be creative and coordinated, to mix high-end and low-end items, and to be a little different than everyone else around you. Read on for my tips to pull of pattern mixing and matching!

RECENT DRUGSTORE BEAUTY FINDS

I’m an equal-opportunity beauty junkie. I’ll buy products from all over – be it Sephora or Target – and while I love the personalized department store experience the most, I prefer the price tag of the drugstore, hands down. I bet you do, too! This month I’ve found four products – one makeup, one skin, one hair and one body – under $30 each  that I am loving. All were purchased from either CVS, Target or Walgreens. Read on to learn all about them!

HOW TO ADJUST TO A NEW CITY: IDEAS FOR STARTING …

We recently moved to Atlanta, Georgia and are in the process of learning how to adjust to a new city as adults – it’s tough! It’s not that I’ve never moved to a new city before – in fact I moved to Chicago about 4 years ago after moving to New York City about 12 years prior to that, so this isn’t a new gig to me. BUT, each time I do it, I am surprised by how unsettling, lonely, terrifying, exciting, humbling, adventurous and joyous the experience can be – all at the same time. It really runs the gamut of emotions, so you have to go easy on yourself while you adjust. There are several things I’ve learned along the way that I think might be helpful to others who are in the same situation or who are thinking about taking the leap. Read on for my ideas on how to start anew!
