DERMALOGICA SUPERFOLIANT AND PHYTO REPLENISH OIL

Over the last couple months, Dermalogica has been churning out some amazing new products that I’ve been lucky enough to try – the Daily Superfoliant gentle scrub charcoal powder and the Phyto Replenish Oil. Both have pleasantly surprised me. I’ve known of the brand for a long time because a lot of spas carry their products (which means they are really good if estheticians love them!).  But what I never really knew is that their big focus is on fighting environmental hazards that can bother, clog, and age your skin. Did you know that pollution isn’t just in urban areas? Sure it’s in smog and cigarette smoke, of course, but it’s also near farmland, construction sites, even in homes (like in paint)! HELLO AGE-ACCELERATORS!!

DISCONNECT AND GO ON A PICNIC

This past weekend, Evan and I went on an impromptu picnic to the cemetery across the street. Yep, that’s right, a picnic in a cemetery. We live near the Oakland Cemetery here in Atlanta where many famous southerners are buried, like Margaret Mitchell. It’s not a sterile, sad place though. It’s beautiful and manicured and has benches and flowers and meadows – like a park where you want to spend time. It’s peaceful and lovely, and we can even let Bernie the dog off the leash. I love going here because it’s such a unique Atlanta experience – they host events and concerts here, too!

EVERY GAL NEEDS A GREAT HAT

This past Sunday was National Hat Day, and in honor of the day, I went hat shopping! It’s pretty rare one can say she went shopping just for a hat. No one wears hats anymore! But I am a certified hat person. They are the PERFECT cover for a bad hair day and add instant style and chicness to any outfit. Every woman should have at least one fabulous hat, and not just a functional one that keeps you warm on a snow day – a real, beautiful, structured hat.

    DENIM ALTERNATIVES FOR THE WORKPLACE

Do you work in an office where jeans are acceptable? Me too – and at first, I hated it. I like getting dressed up for work. But now I’m getting used to it, and I’m seeing all the benefits that allowing your employees to wear what makes them comfortable brings. I actually see a difference – they feel like their choices are respected, that their requests were heard, and they act more confident with their peers. It’s so cool! SO – I’m on board. For the most part…

    MODERN SUITING, TWO WAYS

I’ve been traveling a lot for work lately – 9 cities, 14 planes, 2 months, LOTS of toiletries. The biggest challenge has been getting creative with packing interchangeable looks that can go from day to night, meeting to meeting, and climate to climate. All without over-stuffing my teeny little carry-on. Then I had a thought. What if I packed my best neutral(ish) suits, mixed-and-matched the tops and bottoms, then changed out the shirts and the shoes?

WEAR A COLOR THAT MAKES YOU UNCOMFORTABLE

Anyone else out there terrified by orange?? I sure am, but this weekend I found myself drawn to it – I was having coffee with my sister, and I wanted to feel happy and bright to celebrate. We hadn’t seen each other in weeks! I found myself reaching for this shirt and blazer thinking, ‘Wait, what if I tried these two pieces together? Can I pull this off? Will I look like a giant persimmon?! (is that a bad thing?!)’ But I gave it a chance – and loved it. In fact, I walked a little taller on my way to our coffee date!
