Okay – do you ever just stumble upon something so lovely and amazing that you just can’t believe your fashion luck?! If you’re not a shopping nerd like me then the answer is likely a big fat NO, but for me it happens sometimes and it is pretty freakin’ exciting. On my last trip to New York, I found a store I’d never been to before called & Other Stories. It’s a Los Angeles, Paris and Stockholm atelier that works with designers around the world. And it’s affordable. JACKPOT.

WHY MIDI LENGTH IS THE BEST LENGTH

You might’ve noticed that I can change my mind about certain styles over time. One day I hate peplums, the next I love them. I thought orange was the worst color ever. Then I challenged myself (and you all!) to try it, and now I just can’t get enough. Today I’m obsessed with midi-dresses but just a couple months ago I thought it was so unflattering. I think that just goes to show that you have to work with something for a while until you find the best fit for you. And you also have to stay curious and open-minded about clothes if you want to unlock your most flattering and fun style.

WEEK IN REVIEW – HAIL, HAIL ROCK N’ ROLL

HAPPY FRIDAY! I’ve been excited to write this post all week because it’s been a really fun couple of them. Crazy, but fun and full of A LOT of rock! For those of you who are new to my blog, did you know my beloved is in a rock band? That’s how we met actually (I know, groupie). Every year or so Jump Little Children gets back together for a few shows, and this year also played at the south’s newest music festival, High Water Festival in Charleston – hosted by Shovels & Rope. We had a blast!

THE PEPLUM GETS AN UPDATE

Boy what a whirlwind couple weeks in Charleston! We had an amazing time and also some amazing shooting opportunities in this magical and charming place. The best part about shooting pics when you are traveling is it gives you a chance to find all kinds of secret spots. The key is to make sure you pack (or purchase!) looks you want to shoot and that you can wear out and about while you’re exploring town. And shop I most definitely did!

HOW A TREND WORKS: SLIMMING WRAP TOPS

Hi there and Happy Tuesday! Have you noticed the wrap top has made a major multi-season comeback? And in the best way – right into your traditional workwear oxford shirts. Just add ruffles and a big ole bow and you’ve got instant outfit perfection. The best part about wrap tops is that they can be super-slimming because of the diagonal lines. They draw the eye across the body rather than straight on.
