    AT LEAST THERE’S HELLO KITTY

The original title of this post was, The Real World is Bleak. At Least There’s Hello Kitty but that seemed a little morbid so I cut it down a bit – but the sentiment is still there. This weekend I did the unthinkable – spent two hours in line to spend $50 on cookies and merchandise covered in a cartoon cat. That’s right, the Hello Kitty Cafe Truck made its way to Atlanta, and it was a divine break from the headlines and news and reality and screaming on Facebook. Sometimes it’s the fun little things that are worth indulging in to bring a little sunshine to your day.

IS IT TIME FOR SPRING?! WITH JORD WATCHES

Just this weekend I reached that annoying point in the year where I am so ready for spring but it is so not warm enough to wear all my new spring clothes, yet. It’s that awkward transition period that I cannot stand – like when you’re trying to grow your short hair out to a gloriously long mane but the in-between stage where you’re always pinning it up seems to last forever and ever (yep, currently happening to me as we speak, can you tell!?). So what should you do to bide the time? My secret is to bring all the elements of spring like a khaki trench coat, pastel leathers, colorful jewelry and a lightweight wood watch to my cool weather wear. I give off the vibe of spring without freezing my butt off. I’m basically willing spring to come with my fashion. It’s bound to work, I’m sure. Need to be convinced to keep reading? Hop on into this post for $25 off and the chance to win $100 towards a new JORD watch

FEMALE (STYLE) ROLE MODELS FOR INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY!

Happy International Women’s Day, ladies! Today I’m celebrating the women who I admire for who they are and what they’ve accomplished, as well as for what they wear. My list of female (style) role models is short and sweet. It’s not that I don’t have more of them – of course I do – but these are my top of the top of the top.

IF THE DRESS DOESN’T FIT, YOU MUST DITCH IT

Some of my beef with style blogs is that they spend so much time painting pictures of ‘attainable’ lifestyles full of lovely clothes that all fit perfectly and look like a dream, that are on trend yet personalized just for you and that don’t break the bank. But in a world full of fashion hits, no one seems to acknowledge the misses all that much. Like how do you know when a dress just doesn’t fit? Our bodies and their flaws are such personal things that when a dress doesn’t work, we take it personally as if we’ve done something terribly wrong and don’t deserve to find a different style. Or we can’t bear to go up to the next size because that number defines who we are so we pour ourselves into it and feel self-conscious the rest of the day. But what if instead we found power in knowing the exact signs that something doesn’t work? I’m going to use myself as an example today.

A GREAT APP FOR TRACKING YOUR CYCLE

Hey girls! As a quick little follow up to yesterday’s THINX period panties post (which did really well, by the way, I guess everyone has been curious), I wanted to share an app that I’ve been using lately to get to know my body and its cycle better. I never used to pay attention to this or care much but something in me clicked this year (perhaps it was my bio-clock kicking in, or perhaps it’s the political threats to my right to choose what the hell I do with it, ahem) that made me want to take ownership of my body’s functions.

AM I NAILING ATHLEISURE, OR WHAT?!

Yes, this is a joke question. But it’s also an actual question I posed to Evan the other day when we were strolling around the neighborhood wearing our workout clothes like a bunch of yuppies. Poor guy, the things he has to live through getting married to a gal like me! But seriously, I’ve been contemplating and experimenting with athleisure lately because I realized it’s simply not going anywhere – if anything it’s just getting bigger in the stores. There was a while where I absolutely could not support making a publicly-acceptable outfit out of my workout wear. In fact, I’d convinced myself that when I put on my workout clothes, I was invisible – camel toe and all.
